Regular membership: Any person, at least 18 years of age, who possesses the necessary artistic skills and temperament, is eligible for membership. Please come and sit in to check us out, but we ask for a quick hearing within a month of starting to be provided to our conductor (recording is okay) consisting of two major scales, chromatic scales, and a short excerpt of music for proper placement in the group. The hearing can be sent to braddock_bamercer.edu.
Mercer college students can register for credit on Mercer’s School of Music website.
High schoolers are welcome too! You need to play at the necessary proficiency on your instrument and provide a hearing as above to the conductor.
Membership Dues
Membership dues for each community member are $50 for each year (due October 1st). Students are exempt from paying dues. These can be paid through the DONATE link on the home page. These dues assist with established budgeted items that include venue cost, folder cost, additional instrumentalists needed and sheet music costs.
Collaborations and Partnerships
The MGCB works closely with Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music. The MGCB joins non-music majors as well as students who perform with other music groups at Mercer, along with numerous community members, to create a large group of musical artists with experiences of various age groups.
